History and Background

The California Alzheimer's Disease Center (CADC) at the University of Southern California (USC)-Los Angeles is located at the USC Health Sciences Campus in central Los Angeles. We work with the USC Memory and Aging Center and the USC Alzheimer Disease Research Center in providing advanced diagnostic and treatment services. We primarily serve Los Angeles County. Our goal is to provide participants with accurate assessments, comprehensive care plans, and access to leading-edge clinical trials and research.

Clinical Services

USC-Los Angeles CADC clinicians bring progressive methods to identify and treat early memory decline and to distinguish between normal aging, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. We have caring and culturally sensitive staff to assist English and Spanish speaking individuals and their families throughout the process.

Economic Development and Professional Training

California state funding enables us to attract new resources into the local economy expanding on this investment by at least 6-fold. These include federal research funds, support from non-profits and industry for clinical trials, specialized research, autopsy research, training, and private foundation grants. The USC-Los Angeles CADC has helped to build a vital workforce for our Los Angeles community, support the federally-funded USC ADRC, and provide advanced training for health care professionals, thus improving their skills.

Community Education

We provide education programs for the community, families and caregivers focusing on memory decline, prevention, and management of cognitive impairment.

Referrals from physicians, other healthcare providers, and agencies are encouraged.

Costs for diagnostic evaluations and professional services may vary on an individual basis. Please contact us for more information. Often, tests performed outside of our CADC may be necessary to complete a diagnostic workup, such as laboratory tests and/or brain scans.
